$193 million and $176 million worldwide. Those are box office hauls of “Paranormal Activity” and “Paranormal Activity 2,” and those are the two primary reasons that “Paranormal Activity 3” is on the way and by the looks of the first trailer, the filmmakers are taking a “if -it-ain’t-broke-don’t-fix-it” approach.
This time around Ariel Schulman and Henry Joost, the duo behind last year’s controversial “Catfish,” are directing the film which as a script from Christopher B. Landon, who wrote the first entry in the franchise and overall, no one is deviating much from the found footage approach. Not much to else to say really. The trailer gives you what you totally except, and while the “Bloody Mary” game sequence is pretty nifty, the reveal is pretty dull, though audiences love jump scares, so we’re sure it will do just fine. And oh yeah, judging by the video timestamp, looks like we’re in prequel (or at least flashback) territory…
“Paranormal Activity 3” will turn out the lights and crank up the volume on October 21st, just in time for Hallowe’en. Trailer below.
