Watch: Colin Farrell Channels Your Creepy Neighbor In New Clip From ‘Fright Night’

One of the biggest remaining question marks of the summer is DreamWorks‘ remake of cult horror-comedy classic “Fright Night.” We’d been feeling mostly positive about the project in advance, with a script from former “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” writer Marti Noxon, “Lars and the Real Girl” helmer Craig Gillespie directing, and a top-notch cast led by the hugely charismatic Anton Yelchin with Colin Farrell, Toni Colette, Imogen Poots, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and David Tennant.

However, the trailer landed a few months back, and while not bad as such (although with a faint whiff of “Disturbia” in there), it seemed a little dour and goth-y compared to the original, and if there’s one thing we all agree we’ve had enough of, it’s overly serious vampire movies. Still, we’re interested to see more, and MTV have debuted a new clip from the film.

The minute or so of footage features Farrell’s vampiric Jerry doorstepping his neighbor, Yelchin’s character, and being a bit of a sleaze about his girlfriend (Poots) and mom (Colette). While it’s still pretty dark in tone, it’s again fairly well-performed: if nothing else, Farrell promises to be one of the more memorable villains of the summer season. Still no sign of Tennant as Peter Vincent, however; we’re a little concerned as to the extent to which the former “Doctor Who” star’s big Hollywood break is being kept under wraps at this stage. “Fright Night” hits theaters in 3D on August 19th, and you can watch the clip below.
