A couple of deleted scenes for you that should satisfy curious film fans looking for a little more from two movies that hit multiplexes earlier this year.
First up, the much talked about excised musical sequence from Zack Snyder‘s egregious “Sucker Punch” has hit the web (and also been restored in the extended BluRay cut of the film which just hit stores). The cover of the Roxy Music song, here sung by Oscar Isaac and Carla Gugino, is set in the brothel level of the reality bending movie, and if you thought the film was already excessive and over-the-top, you ain’t seen nothing yet. It’s pretty clear why the scene was cut — we can only imagine it would’ve brought the already long film to a complete standstill — but it is interesting see Snyder dabble in the aesthetics of a musical, and frankly, he has a pretty good eye for it in terms of staging and choreography. It’s definitely worth a peek just for that alone.
Meanwhile, even though it’s still in theaters, an extended/deleted scene from “Super 8” is also making the rounds. If you haven’t seen the movie, don’t worry, it’s from pretty early on the picture and spoiler-free as we get an extra long taste of Joe (Joel Courtney) finding out from his best friend Charles (Riley Griffiths) that his crush Alice (Elle Fanning) has been cast in the monster movie they’re making, as they walk around a vintage 7-Eleven. It’s a nice moment, and yes extraneous, but if you loved the movie as much as we did, it’s worth a couple minutes this afternoon to give it a look. Check them both out below.
