Like the Super Bowl, The MTV Movie Awards is less about who wins what than the spectacle of the event which brings music and movie stars together in one place and lets them party. It’s also a marketing machine with many studios using the opportunity to pimp their summer movies and with “Super 8” and “Breaking Dawn” walking away with the most-talked-about trailers last night, these other clips from forthcoming releases were a bit overshadowed, so in case you missed them, here they are.
First up is another look at “Harry Potter & The Deathly Hallows Part 2,” the final entry in the long-running franchise. It’s all about Harry’s final showdown with Lord Voldemort and appropriately, Warner Bros. has made that the central focus of their campaign, so fans look be in store for something truly epic. After that, we have a new mini-trailer for “Rise Of The Planet The Apes” which smells of cheese a mile away. We can’t tell you if there is any new footage in there, because we’re still giggling over a bug-eyed James Franco gravely intoning, “We call it…the cure.” Finally, in what could be a sleeper hit, a new look at the drama “The Help” is here. Based on the best-selling book, the film tracks the story a plucky young Southern dame, played by Emma Stone, who writes an exposé on the ignored hired hands in some of the wealthiest homes in 1962 Mississippi.
‘Deathly Hallows’ opens on July 15th, ‘ROTOPA’ hits on August 5th and “The Help” arrives on August 12th. Check out the clips below.
