And finally a non-Cannes related clip of the day. The highly anticipated trailer for New Line‘s “Horrible Bosses” finally dropped today and all signs point to a comedy classic. Or well… at least a comedy worth our $13 bucks. Directed by “King of Kong” director Seth Gordon (who also directed “Four Christmases” but we’ll try not to hold that against him), who has a host of episodes for “Parks and Rec,” “Community,” “The Office,” and “Modern Family” under his belt, the film boasts a script by Michael Markowitz, John Francis Daley (“Freaks and Geeks“) and Jonathan Goldstein. It was on our Anticipated Summer Flicks list based on the hilarious script and talent involved, and the trailer doesn’t disappoint.
Jasons Bateman and Sudeikis, along with “Always Sunny in Philadelphia” breakout star Charlie Day bring their puppy dog charm as the trio of friends who are used and abused by their respective horrible bosses, and subsequently set out on a harebrained plot to have them whacked. The bosses– played by Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell, are clearly enjoying their villainous turns. Farrell gets to display his overlooked comedic chops and is obviously reveling in the hideous comb over wig they have fitted him with. It’s also nice to see Aniston breaking out of her “neurotic single lady” wheelhouse a bit. The trio of Bateman, Sudeikis and Day clearly have great comedic chemistry together, though we have to say Day kind of walks away with this trailer. Jamie Foxx stars as their murder consultant, and of course, it’s also nice to see Wendell Pierce, aka Bunk from “The Wire” back in the interrogation room.
They’ve also debuted a rather lazy teaser one-sheet for the flick as well. Check out the trailer for yourself below. “Horrible Bosses” hits theaters on July 8th. via ComingSoon, or watch in HD at Apple.
