‘World War Z’ Makes A Killing In Casting Female Lead Mirielle Enos

With the expensive on-again, off-again production of “World War Z” now back on track for a summer shoot thanks to a little help from David Ellison‘s Skydance Productions, casting is now beginning on the film and a new name is looking to come aboard.

Deadline reports that Mireille Enos, star of the newest AMC hit series “The Killing,” will join Brad Pitt in the film that will be directed by Marc Forster. The Black List approved script for ‘Z’ by J. Michael Straczynski (with rewrites by Matthew Michael Carnahan) centers on a UN bureaucrat named Gerry Lane (Pitt), who in the aftermath of the zombie war is asked to compile a complete report on the incident. Enos will play his wife. It’s a nice bit of casting if only to have us ask: should we be watching “The Killing”? We’re heard some mixed things but are willing to give it a shot if it’s good. But anyway, Enos has made a huge impression and silver screen transitions don’t come much bigger than co-starring with Brad Pitt.

It looks like everything is falling into place for the film. No release date has been set but we’re guessing this too will land in what is shaping up to be a massive 2012 movie calendar.
