Alan Silvestri, the famed composer behind the music for films like the “Back To The Future” trilogy, “Contact” and “Predator” has been tapped to score “Captain America: The First Avenger” according to Film Music Reporter.
The two-time Oscar nominee — “Forrest Gump” and “The Polar Express” — is best known for his longtime work with director Robert Zemeckis, scoring pretty much every one of the director’s films. Michael Giacchino (“Up,” “Let Me In“) and John Powell (“How To Train Your Dragon,” “Knight & Day“) were said to be in the running, but Silvestri has landed the gig. He will be joined by Alan Menken who, as it was previously reported, will be penning some songs for the film, likely revolving around a USO-type show to entertain the troops that features in the movie.
Directed by Joe Johnston, “Captain America: The First Avenger,” starring Chris Evans, Hugo Weaving, Tommy Lee Jones, Dominic Cooper, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan and Stanley Tucci opens on July 22nd.
