Joe Cornish‘s “Attack The Block” came to SXSW and conquered, hands down. Wowing audiences in Austin, the film — partly inspired by a carjacking Cornish suffered in 2001, and partly by both M. Night Shyamalan‘s “Signs” and John Sayles’ unmade script “Dark Skies” — the film mixes newcomers, most notably John Boyega and Alex Esmail, as leads Moses and Pest, with more established names like Jodie Whittaker, Nick Frost and Luke Treadaway in the tale of a gang of teens who protect their hood from an onslaught of invading aliens all powered by an awesome Basement Jaxx soundtrack.
Well, /Film has debuted the U.K. quad poster for the film and it gets the point across of the movie pretty succinctly if not that creatively. But frankly, a not so hot poster isn’t going to dampen our enthusiasm for the film, we just hope it arrives on this side of the ocean without subtitles.
“Attack The Block” opens in the U.K. on May 13th and is still seeking U.S. distribution. Poster below.
