While “The Hurt Locker” seemed to be a career boost for everyone involved, it’s been disappointing that Brian Geraghty has been overlooked (how come his name hasn’t been popping up for tentpole shortlist casting?). Just as solid as his co-stars Jeremy Renner and Anthony Mackie, Geraghty hasn’t quite had the same post-‘Locker’ push as his castmates. No matter, we’re keeping an eye on the actor and what he does next, and now he’s lined up an indie drama to star in.
THR reports that Brian Geraghty, Logan Huffman and Madeleine Martin have signed on to “Refuge,” joining the already cast Krysten Ritter. From writer/director Jessica Goldberg, the story follows “a young woman who must take care of her younger siblings after her parents abandon them.” Goldberg originally wrote the material for a play which has adapted for the big screen.
Production on the film is already underway in Southampton and we imagine it will make its way to Sundance next year. As for Geraghty, he has some interesting stuff on the way including the ensemble dramedy “Ten Year” and the single-setting thriller “ATM.”
