‘Bridesmaids’ Poster Arrives And Asks You To “Save The Date”

While “The Hangover 2” is arriving in May and yes, is something we’re looking forward to, is it sacrilege to admit that we’re a bit more excited for the Judd Apatow-produced, Paul Feig-directed comedy, “Bridesmaids” coming out a couple of weeks earlier? With the talent involved, we certainly don’t think so.

“Bridesmaids” boasts a massive ensemble cast led by Kristen Wiig (who-co wrote the film), Maya Rudolph, Rose Byrne, “Mad Men” star Jon Hamm, Jill Clayburgh, Matthew Lucas (U.K. hit comedy show “Little Britain”), Chris O’Dowd (”The I.T. Crowd,” “Gulliver’s Travels”), Ellie Kemper (Erin on “The Office”), Melissa McCarthy (”Gilmore Girls”), and Wendy McLendon-Covey (”Reno:911”). The film centers on Annie (Wiig), a simple and single 30-something Midwestern girl (with a poor dating track record) who is asked to be her best friend Lillian’s (Rudolph) maid of honor. However, having never done the job, she struggles to please the snobby, rich bridesmaids at every pre-wedding event. One of Lillian’s best friends is essentially the bridesmaid from hell (Byrne) — who attempts to take over the maid of honor duties from the inexperienced Annie.

It sounds like it has the potential to be fresh and funny and we can’t wait to see the results. As the newly released poster bears out, this one certainly looks like it will have attitude to spare. Apatow player Michael Andrews is scoring the film. “Bridesmaids” opens on May 13th. [Moviefone]
