And the cast of Daniel Espinosa‘s promising English-language debut, “Safe House,” continues to grow. The director has now brought back a star from his break-out film last year, “Snabba Cash,” with Fares Fares set to join the ranks led by Ryan Reynolds and Denzel Washington.
Fares will reportedly play Emile Vargas, an ex-paramilitary gun for hire who will antagonize the duo of Reynolds and Washington who respectively star as a young U.S. intelligence agent and a newly arrived prisoner who must band together to reach the titular safe house as the prisoner comes under attack. The “Collateral” meets “Three Days At The Condor” Black-listed script was penned by David Guggenheim with rewrites by Terry George (“Hotel Rwanda,” “In The Name Of The Father“).
This new role will see the Swedish actor follow in the footsteps of fellow “Snabba Cash” star Joel Kinnaman who also made the leap to Hollywood and will be seen in Chris Gorak‘s “The Darkest Hour” alongisde Emile Hirsch, Rachael Taylor, Olivia Thirlby and Max Minghella. Fares joins the quartet of Brendan Gleeson, Liam Cunningham, Sam Shepard and Robert Patrick who, only yesterday, joined the cast which currently boasts musican Tim McGraw, Ruben Blades and French actress Nora Arnezeder. McGraw will play Reynolds’ mentor and Arnezeder his love interest with the remaining cast’s roles unknown at this stage.
