Warner Bros. Also Releases New Photos Of ‘Green Lantern’ & ‘Something Borrowed’
Let’s begin with the most interesting photos, descending down to the least interesting ones — and that’s not a slight, but we have seen some of these before in some shape or form. Warner Bros. has served up a few new promo images from their summer schedule and like the good trained seals we are, well…. you get it (insert smiley here).
OK, so we’re greatly anticipating “Horrible Bosses” for three reasons. 1) The screenplay by Michael Markowitz, John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein is great (check out the “Freaks & Geeks” alum in that crowd who has turned his career in a different direction). 2) The director Seth Gordon. Yes, he fumbled with his studio debut comedy “Four Christmases,” but it’s unclear if that was his fault (apparently Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon had zero chemistry, fought on set and won’t be working together again, ever). Gordon also directed the much-beloved documentary “The King of Kong: A Fistful of Quarters,” and has been developing a lot of strong-sounding comedy projects (here’s a recent one) which gives us faith that he’ll turn things around with ‘Bosses.’ 3) The cast: Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudekis, who star as three friends who hire a goon (Jamie Foxx) to kill their three respective, awful bosses (Jennifer Aniston, Colin Farrell and Kevin Spacey).
It all sounds rather amusing and this is our first look at Foxx in the film, playing the character Motherfucker Jones (no, really). The comedy lands in theaters on July 8. Below we have new or relatively new photos of “Green Lantern,” the romantic comedy “Something Borrowed” and the dramedy “Crazy, Stupid, Love.”
“Crazy, Stupid, Love.” looks great for obvious reasons that are not (sorry, misguided peanut gallery) our misperceived blind love for Ryan Gosling. It also has a creative team behind it that is looking for some redemption, though many people seemed to enjoy filmmakers Glenn Ficarra and John Requa‘s “I Love You Phillip Morris” (this writer disliked it). Written by hot comedy writer Dan Fogelman, aside from a winning trailer which already displayed the film’s virtues and charmed most of our pants off, there’s a lot in this film to like including the cast of Steve Carrell, Gosling, Emma Stone, Julianne Moore, Kevin Bacon, Marisa Tomei and more. The flick is scheduled for a July 29 release.
Our penultimate WB images are of “Green Lantern,” which stars it-hero/man of the moment Ryan Reynolds. Most of these images you’ve already seen in the recently released WonderCon footage if you were watching closely, but here they are all crisp and whatnot. Redemption is apparently this post’s theme as “Green Lantern” went from ridiculed to lauded with the new footage shown in San Francisco. 
Lastly, there’s the infidelity dramedy “Something Borrowed,” which stars Ginnifer Goodwin, Kate Hudson, John Krasinski and Colin Egglesfield (the new “Melrose Place“). The film centers on tested friendships and secrets that come to the surface when terminally single Rachel (Goodwin) falls for Dex (Egglesfield), her best friend Darcy’s (Hudson) fiancé. It looks fairly generic so far, but to its credit it was directed by Luke Greenfield who somehow made “The Girl Next Door” into a far greater teen rom-com than it deserved to be. He certainly elevated that film in every way possible, but we suppose a great cast didn’t hurt either. Of course, the laugh is somewhat on us since we just realized IMDb has like 40 new pictures from the film already. It arrives in theaters first, before all the other aforementioned pictures on May 6.
