First Look: Steve Coogan, Adam Scott & More In ‘Our Idiot Brother’

With an ensemble cast featuring Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Banks, Zooey Deschanel, Rashida Jones and Emily Mortimer, the Sundance indie hit comedy, “Your Idiot Brother” (formerly known as “My Idiot Brother”), has a wide array of talent in it. But that’s only the first layer and the bench is deep. There’s also Adam Scott (“Party Down,” “Parks & Recreation,” Will Ferrell‘s nasty/awesome brother in “Step Brothers“), British funnyman Steve Coogan (“24 Hour Party People,” “Hamlet 2,” beloved U.K. sitcom, “I’m Alan Partridge“), T.J. Miller (“She’s Out of My League,” the excellent short film, “Successful Alcoholics“), Kathryn Hahn (a Judd Apatow character-actor favorite who threatened to steal every “Step Brothers” scene she was in), Hugh Dancy (“Adam,” “Savage Grace“) and comely newcomer Janet Montgomery. Phew.

So just how big was the buzz on this? The Weinstein Company paid between $6-7 million for the film at Sundance for it. As for the movie itself, our man on the ground in Park City called the film “a story of family and forgiveness, shows us people trying to be good, trying to be more than themselves, and has amazing comedy bits ranging from huge sight gags and ba-doomp-boomp! punchlines, to razor-sharp sentences that boomerang back after they’ve whizzed by and silent expressions that convey volumes.” We can’t wait.

“Our Idiot Brother” will hit theaters on August 26th. Check out more of the new pics below courtesy of IMDB.
