We can’t remember the last movie where each casting announcement made us dread a movie more and more. But Garry Marshall seems determined to stack his forthcoming holiday-themed romcom “New Year’s Eve” with whichever Hollywood talent has a spot in their calendar and isn’t opposed to taking an easy paycheck.
THR reports that the latest thespians to whore themselves out are Ice Cube and Ryan Seacrest who are currently in negotiations to join the pic. In case you need reminding, Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Abigail Breslin, Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Ashton Kutcher, Lea Michele, Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Pfeiffer, Hilary Swank, Sienna Miller, Sofia Vergara, Jon Bon Jovi, Seth Meyers, Til Schweiger and Josh Duhamel star in the pic. Elaborating on earlier reports, it’s been revealed that Duhamel will play “a hopeless romantic who spends the day trying to get to New York in the hope of getting to a party in order to re-meet a mystery girl from the previous year.” Shocker! Ice Cube will play an NYPD cop who is working alongside the director of the Times Square New Year’s Eve festivities (Swank) while Ryan Seacrest will cameo as himself.
Please, no more casting news, we’re getting dumber by the minute writing about this. “New Year’s Eve” arrives on December 9th.
