Plus Dozens Of New Photos From Fairy Tale Film
Whoops. Thanks to the eagle-eyed reader for this one, we’re obviously going way too fast. So Image Entertainment, the studio that bought the North American distribution rights to “Passion Play,” the directorial debut of Mitch Glazer, the writer behind “Scrooged” and the Alfonso Cuaron-directed version of “Great Expectations” in 1998, messed up in their recently released trailer. The film stars Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox, Bill Murray, Rhys Ifans and Kelly Lynch (with appearances by Bud Cort, Rory Cochrane and Murray’s older brother Brian Doyle-Murray — “Get a Life” fans, anyone?), but within the trailer — as we’ve photoshopped nicely for you here — Rourke is called an “Academy Award Winner.”
Sadly, while Mickey was nominated for his excellent 2008 turn in “The Wrestler,” Rourke lost out to Sean Penn in “Milk.” D’oh. Insult to injury considering how reviled the film was at TIFF last year (including our own rather scathing review). Ouch. Not even lauded cinematographer Christopher Doyle could save this one. Perhaps it’s time for the marketing department for Image to go back to the drawing board slightly. Ah, well. Some new images from “Passion Play” below the jump.
“Passion Play” hits theaters in limited release on May 6th before quickly hiding on DVD on May 31st. Trailer below once again.
