With the “Iron Man” franchise now firmly behind him, director Jon Favreau can focus on his next mega-tentpole, the Disney pic “Magic Kingdom.” Yes, it’s a movie based on the theme park attraction, and as was noted last year when he signed on, a writer was being sought to pen a new draft of the script, which was initially written by Ron Moore (“Battlestar Galactica“). Who would’ve thought it would be one of the most celebrated writers in recent years?
THR reports that Michael Chabon and Favreau are talking about teaming on “Magic Kingdom” though no offers have been made nor have any meetings with Disney taken place just yet. But if it seems like an odd fit, think again. Chabon is definitely known around the Mouse House having worked on the upcoming “John Carter Of Mars,” Francis Lawrence‘s gestating “Snow And The Seven” as well as a “Dumbo” musical that’s headed to Broadway.
Frankly, we’d rather Chabon be using his talents for more creatively rich pursuits but this kind of gig probably adds some nice zeroes to his bank account. So while we wait to see what may come of this pairing, can someone please get the movie made of “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay” already? Thanks.
