Lily Collins Is Snow White In Tarsem’s Upcoming Take On The Famed Fairly Tale

‘Immortals’ Posters Revealed

Thanks to “The Blind Side,” Lily Collins is getting punted into stardom. Following the surprise success of that film, Collins has taken roles in a number of high-profile projects including “Mortal Instruments,” and the Taylor Lautner thriller “Abduction” and now the actress has added a major tentpole, opposite one of the biggest stars in the world, to her calendar.

Relativity has announced that Collins will play Snow White in Tarsem‘s forthcoming spin on the famous story. Starring Julia Roberts as the Queen and Armie Hammer as Prince Andrew Alcott the story, written by Melissa Wallack and Jason Keller, will strike a tone between adventure and comedy with Snow White teaming up with a pack of seven dwarfs to take on her evil stepmother who has destroyed the kingdom and killed her father. We read a draft of the script and found it to be the in the vein of “The Princess Bride,” or the recent “Tangled,” though that may have changed from our initial read.

Tarsem’s film — currently untitled but formerly known as “Brothers Grimm: Snow White” — is moving fast; pre-production is already in full swing with lensing to begin in May for a June 29, 2012 release date. The film has certainly moved to the head of the pack when compared to “Snow White And The Huntsman” around which word has grown silent especially with Viggo Mortensen reportedly dropping out of the project. However, it’s currently set for a December 21, 2012 bow and there’s still time to replace the actor and get the picture going.

At any rate, Tarsem has got one helluva busy year ahead of him. He’s currently finishing up “Immortals,” his swords-and-sandals pic about the Greek gods with Henry Cavill starring as Theseus, a warrior prince who leads men and gods alike into battle against titans in order to save mankind. Stephen Dorff co-stars as his sidekick Stavros, Freida Pinto as a priestess, Mickey Rourke as King Hyperion, Kellan Lutz as Poseidon, Luke Evans as Zeus, John Hurt as Old Zeus and Isabel Lucas as Athena. Fandango has gotten their hands on the first batch of posters for the film and apparently the movie is set in a foundry. Check ’em out below; “Immortals” lands on November 11th.
