Yes, more “Rock of Ages” news. With the film lensing soon, you’ll be hearing a lot more about the project before it gets in front of cameras.
Deadline reports that Paul Giamatti will have the unenviable task of managing Tom Cruise — in the film that is. He’ll manage the band fronted by Stacee Jaxx (Cruise) in the story about Sherrie (Julianne Hough), the small town girl who travels to Los Angeles with dreams of making it big and falls in love. Alec Baldwin and Mary J. Blige co-star in the roles of Justice Charlier, the owner of the Sunset Strip’s exotic dance venue the Venus Club, and Dennis, the owner of the ‘80s rock club The Bourbon. And as was reported just a few hours ago, Amy Adams is being sought for the role of the journalist who profiles Jaxx, sings and then ends up in bed with him.
With the film gearing up to shoot in May, we had to wonder if it might present a scheduling conflict with his work on David Cronenberg‘s “Cosmopolis.” But we’ve been told that his scenes in the thriller will be shot toward the end of the production schedule so there will be no issues getting both films in the can.
“Rock of Ages” opens on June 1, 2012.
