Update: Reps for McLeavy tell Next Movie that she hasn’t been offered anything yet and is still in the mix.
The cast for Timur Bekmambetov‘s vampire slashing summer blockbuster “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” keeps growing and perhaps the most remarkable thing about it is that there’s not one A-list actor among the bunch. Clearly, the filmmakers are hoping the allure of a historical figure taking it to some bloodsuckers will be more than enough to get asses in the seats.
Latino Review reports that Abraham Lincoln now has a Mary Todd with Robin McLeavy joining the cast of the film. If you haven’t heard of McLeavy, not to worry. She’s a relatively new face probably best known for her turn in Sean Byrne‘s horror pic “The Loved Ones.” McLeavey joins a cast that includes Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie and Dominic Cooper in the film, based on the book by Seth Grahame-Smith which itself is based on the faux diaries of the president (Walker) given to the author by a vampire named Henry Sturgess (Cooper). Sturgess saved Lincoln’s life when he battles a vampire as a teenager, and the two become fast friends. Sturgess teaches Lincoln about the history of vampirism, trains him in combat, and sends the president to hunt and kill evil vampires. Mackie will play the president’s best friend Will.
Production will start soon on the Timur Bekmambetov-directed and Tim Burton-produced film which will drive a stake through the heart of mulitplexes on June 22, 2012.
