Really, could this thing get any more awesome? “Cogan’s Trade,” the latest from Andrew Dominik, that already boasts the talents of Brad Pitt, Sam Rockwell, James Gandolfini and Richard Jenkins has now added yet another actor to the mix. THR reports that Gandolfini’s “Sopranos” co-star Vincent Curatola, who played Johnny Sack on the hit show, has now been announced as the latest addition to the impressively cast crime caper.
As mentioned previously, the film is an adaptation of the pulp crime novel by George V. Higgins (the author of “The Friends Of Eddie Coyle”) and follows mob enforcer Jackie Cogan (Pitt) trying to track down the thieves who ripped off a high-stakes card game. Jenkins will play a lawyer who shares inside info on the card game, while Gandolfini will play a washed up, alcoholic hit man who is brought in on the job. Curatola is set to portray a middle-aged man recently released from jail who seeks revenge on those who sent him to prison.
With the film soon scheduled to start shooting, a few more names are being rumored/linked to parts — including the previously mentioned Mark Ruffalo — but nothing has been officially confirmed just yet. The long-linked Casey Affleck is also mentioned as part of the cast, and we expect he’s now signed and sealed for the pic as well.
“Cogan’s Trade” was purchased by The Weinstein Company last month, and is scheduled for a first quarter 2012 release.
