While there were a number of genre films playing to strong notices at SXSW last month, none wowed audiences more than Joe Cornish‘s “Attack The Block.”
Partly inspired by a carjacking Cornish suffered in 2001, and partly by both M. Night Shyamalan‘s “Signs” and John Sayles’ unmade script “Dark Skies”—the film mixes newcomers, most notably John Boyega and Alex Esmail, as leads Moses and Pest, with more established names like Jodie Whittaker, Nick Frost and Luke Treadaway in the tale of a gang of teens who protect their hood from an onslaught of invading aliens all powered by an awesome Basement Jaxx soundtrack. The new teaser for the film gives us a sneak preview of that score as well as some new scenes from the film.
We absolutely loved the film when we saw it at SXSW and named it one our favorite films of the festival. The film hits U.K. cinemas on May 13th but we won’t have to wait too long to watch it on this side of the pond, as Screen Gems recently picked it up for distribution in the U.S. Check out the new spot at The Guardian — or watch it below.
