Watch: Trailer For Indie Flick ‘Terri’ Starring John C. Reilly

With Sundance now in everyone’s rearview, it means films from the fest are going to start trickling into theaters in releases both big and small, so don’t feel too bummed if you didn’t make it up to Park City this year. There will be plenty of opportunities to catch up.

And you can put “Terri” on your list, as a trailer has now landed for the film. The film stars John C. Reilly as a high school principal who decides to meet once a week with the troubled titular student played by newcomer Jacob Wysocki. Our man at Sundance called the film enjoyable but slight, that gives off the “general feeling that you’ve seen this story before” and whose darker moments might keep the film from “being a larger success.” So manage your expectations folks. As for the trailer, it definitely seems like a batch of indie films we’ve seen before, but it did score points with some major critics so there is likely much more than meets the eye.

You can check out the full synopsis and trailer below (or in HD at Apple). “Terri” goes into limited release on July 1st.

A hit at the Sundance 2011 Film Festival, TERRI is a moving and often funny film about the relationship between Terri (Jacob Wysocki), an oversized teen misfit, and the garrulous but well-meaning vice principal (John C. Reilly) who takes an interest in him. TERRI was produced by the team behind BLUE VALENTINE and HALF NELSON, and directed by Azazel Jacobs (MOMMA’S MAN).
