Watch: Trailer For Sci-Fi Sundance Hit ‘Another Earth’

As we noted this morning, it’s been one helluva year for Brit Marling. She has starred in, co-written and co-produced a pair of sci-fi tinged dramas that also happened to be two of the most widely acclaimed films at Sundance this year, “Another Earth” and “Sound of My Voice” and in less than five months, has become one of the hottest new talents around town.

Well, a trailer has finally landed for “Another Earth” it’s unlike any sci-fi film you’re likely to see. Co-starring William Mapother (“Lost“), Marling plays a student released from prison after a hit-and-run accident who comes into the life of grieving father (Mapother) whose child she killed all while the rest of the world deals with a mirror version of Earth appearing in the sky. Sounds like a tricky balance, but our man at SXSW — where we caught up with the film — said it had a “haunting, unshakable vibe that follows you long after you left the theater.”

“Another Earth” opens on July 22nd. You can check out the official synopsis, poster and trailer below (or in HD at Apple).

In ANOTHER EARTH, Rhoda Williams (Brit Marling), a bright young woman accepted into MIT’s astrophysics program, aspires to explore the cosmos. A brilliant composer, John Burroughs (William Mapother), has just reached the pinnacle of his profession and is about to have a second child. On the eve of the discovery of a duplicate Earth, tragedy strikes and the lives of these strangers become irrevocably intertwined.
