Will Ursa Be Appearing In Zack Snyder’s ‘Superman’?

Speculation surrounding Zack Snyder‘s “Superman” shifted direction earlier this week when it was revealed that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger and Rosamund Pike were all vying for a lead female role in the film that was not Lois Lane (though yes, despite some confusion, that character will still be in the film). Guesses were made at what the role might be — Lana Lang or Cat Grant perhaps — however, the part might be one that we’ve seen before.

Update: Today at the junket for “Unknown,” Diane Kruger denied her involvement in the “Superman” casting process. “No,” she said, contradicting the recent reports. “it’s not true.” (via ComingSoon)

Latino Review reported that according to their sources, the actresses are vying for the part of Ursa in the forthcoming film. The villainess appeared in “Superman: The Movie” and “Superman II” and was played by Sarah Douglas, but of course there is now a larger question that looms: does this mean General Zod will be the central baddie in the forthcoming film? It’s hard to imagine one without the other.

This isn’t the first time this rumor about Zod has cropped up but last fall, Zack Snyder brushed talk of it aside saying quite simply it’s “just a rumor.” Guess we’ll have to wait and see but if Snyder and company need any help deciding on a villain, they can always consult our list of suggestions.

With a summer start date looming and a December 2012 release on the horizon, questions will be answered soon.
