Beautiful Poster & Synopsis Lands For ‘Jane Eyre’ With Mia Wasikowska & Michael Fassbender

A film we have right at the top of our must-see list for next year is Cary Fukunaga‘s adaptation of Charlotte Brontë’s “Jane Eyre.”

Fukunaga is making his sophomore feature directorial effort after breaking out in a huge way with the excellent “Sin Nombre,” and he got a filmmaker’s dream for a cast. The film stars Mia Wasikowska as the titular character and Michael Fassbender in the role of Rochester in the classic Brontë tale of a young governess, Eyre, who falls in love with her employer, Rochester, but discovers he harbors a dark secret. Co-starring will be the stellar likes of Jamie Bell, Judi Dench, Sally Hawkins, Imogen Poots, Holliday Grainger and Tamsin Merchant.

The film now has a beautiful poster, debuted by Focus Features on the film’s Facebook page, and if there is one slight niggling doubt we have about the film, it’s that March 11, 2011 release date, which seems like a very odd fit for a period picture. But, we definitely can’t wait. Check out the official synopsis after the jump:

Based on Charlotte Brontë’s classic novel, the romantic drama stars Mia Wasikowska (“Alice in Wonderland”) and Michael Fassbender (“Inglourious Basterds”) in the lead roles. In the story, Jane Eyre flees Thornfield House, where she works as a governess for wealthy Edward Rochester. The isolated and imposing residence – and Mr. Rochester’s coldness – have sorely tested the young woman’s resilience, forged years earlier when she was orphaned. As Jane reflects upon her past and recovers her natural curiosity, she will return to Mr. Rochester – and the terrible secret that he is hiding…
