Bono Doesn’t Get Killed In Trailer For ‘Killing Bono’

Are you ready for the rousing story of a band who competes with U2 and loses? No? Well, it’s coming anyway and if anything, it makes us wonder how we can spin our tales of failed musical glory into an indie movie.

Based on British music journalist Neil McCormick‘s memoir “I Was Bono’s Doppleganger,” “Killing Bono” follows Neil and Ivan McCormick (Ben Barnes from “Prince Caspian” and Robert Sheehan), two brothers who form a band together but are consistently overshadowed by their classmates, who go on to form U2. The supporting cast includes Krysten Ritter (“She’s Out Of My League“), Pete Postlethwaite (“The Usual Suspects“), Luke Treadaway (“Brothers of the Head“), Ralph Brown (“Withnail & I“) and Peter Serafinowicz (“Couples Retreat“). Irish actor Martin McCann (“Clash of the Titans“) will play the young Bono.

Overall, the trailer looks like your standard little indie comedy with lots of eccentric characters and wacky situations, but we’re just not feeling it. The film has distribution lined up across the pond but nothing set for the U.S. just yet. Check out the trailer after the jump. [Movieline]
