Geeks are spazzing a little bit this morning following Emma Stone‘s appearance last night on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.” Sitting across from the big-chinned, un-funny man, Stone, who plays Gwen Stacy in the upcoming 3D “Spider-Man” reboot, talked about her recent natural blonde locks she’s donning for the film and then surprised no one by saying, “There’s a few Spidermen, so I may have to keep it for a couple of years.”
While geeks may squawk that Gwen Stacy [spoiler] dies in the original comics, Sony isn’t stupid, and they didn’t sign one of the hottest, rising young actresses only to have her appear in one film of their mega blockbuster comic movie of which, yes, they hope to make more than one of. So yeah, Emma Stone will be in more than one film and shocker, director Marc Webb may not be following the Marvel comic series down to every last detail. As you might recall, neither did Sam Raimi, and his trilogy brought in boat loads of money so clearly, most moviegoers aren’t to worried about crossover continuity. Contractual options for multiple films are pretty much a given in today’s franchise driven world so we’re not sure why this is such a big surprise.
We’re still waiting to hear from Julian Assange who is looking into whether or not Andrew Garfield has signed on for multiple films. Once he delivers the encrypted data from Sony’s hard drives we’ll let you know. Anyway, we heart Emma Stone and if you missed “Easy A,” do yourself a massive favor and swing by your local video store — it’s available for rent starting today. “Spider-Man” will shoot into the early New Year but we’ll have a bit of a wait on this one as it won’t swing into theaters until July 3, 2012.
