Chris Zylka Is Flash Thompson In ‘Spider-Man’

This a rumor that has been knocking around for a while and with filming now underway on Marc Webb‘s 3D reboot of “Spider-Man,” we suppose it will be one of (if not the) last bit of casting to be put in place.

Up-and-comer Chris Zylka, who starred in Gregg Araki‘s misfire “Kaboom” earlier this year and is in the David R. Ellis 3D shark movie thingy next fall, has been cast as Flash Thompson. If it’s been a while since you’ve read the comics, you might recall that Flash is a classmate of Peter Parker’s who bullies him because he’s a dorkus malorkus while, ironically, he admires Spider-Man. But, depending on when the film takes place, the two sort of become buds in college and we imagine the film will depict the transition of Flash from asshole to not-so-much-of-an-asshole.

No matter how big the part, this is probably pure gravy for Zylka who will work alongside the starry cast of Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Martin Sheen, Sally Field, Rhys Ifans, Irrfan Khan, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Julianne Nicholson and Annie Parisse. “Spider-Man” hits July 3, 2012.
