Oh, the many faces of Natalie Portman. On the one hand, she recently told David Poland in an interview that she’s very careful about the choices she makes onscreen as she doesn’t want to end up edited into hand moisturizer fodder on sites like Mr. Skin (or worse). On the other hand, in the recently debuted red-band trailer for David Gordon Green‘s “Your Highness,” the actress strips down to a thong much to the delight of teen boys everywhere. But it turns out, her pen might be the biggest aphrodisiac yet for dudes who really need to get out more.
Hollywood Elsewhere got a reader review of the script for the recently announced Natalie Portman co-scribed (she wrote it with her college pal Laura Moses) sex comedy “BYO.” While the picture, which currently has Portman set to take the lead role and Anne Hathaway loosely attached in the co-starring slot, is said to be lacking “any serious Jonah Hill-like vulgarity” it does contain a very early scene in which one of lead characters Lucy (described as a “wild sex fiend”) “is caught blowing a 15 year-old by the teen’s mother.”
But that scene (which is a realization of every teen boy fantasy) seems to be about as salacious as it gets. The reader notes that the film has “just lots of Michael Cera snarkiness and McLovin dopey-ness” and while it does contain one other sex scene, “it doesn’t get any dirtier than the page-five BJ.”
“BYO” doesn’t get a particularly enthusiastic response with the reader closing things out by saying, “”I can see it being funnier acted out. It just seems lurid because it’s about chicks acting like horny dudes.” But you know what? What’s wrong with having a movie out there about women who are actually sexually driven for once instead of the standard sex comedy where they get chased for ninety minutes by stunted man-childs? The project is currently being shopped to studios and if it does get picked up and starts moving, a director and even another pass at the script could change the project entirely. So don’t think these details are the final word on the project; it’s one person’s opinion and a lot can happen on the way to the big screen.
