With Pixar officially launching the marketing campaign for next summer’s “Cars 2” by dropping a couple of fresh teaser trailers for the film earlier this week, the biggest question mark that was left with fans was, “Who is voicing the damn thing?” Sure, Larry The Cable Guy (god, we hate typing that) and Owen Wilson are back but aside from Michael Caine, there were a slew of voices that sounded familiar but we couldn’t put a finger on it.
However, Empire has revealed just who is behind the shiny pieces of digitized metal, reporting that Michael Caine plays seasoned spy Finn McMissile, Emily Mortimer is the spy-in-training Holley Shiftwell, Jason Isaacs voices spy jet Siddeley, Joe “He’ll Always Be Fat Tony To Us” Mantegna is Grem, Peter Jacobson is Acer, and Thomas Kretschmann as Professor Z. Not too bad at all. That’s some fine talent, but Pixar is the rare studio that doesn’t really rely on selling the voice cast to get asses in the seats, and really, they’d still be selling tickets even if Gilbert Gottfried and Bobcat Goldthwait were reading the phonebook to each other for 90 minutes.
