Shooting On ‘Spider-Man’ Starts In 2 Weeks
Bummer. Once the rising Emma Stone signed on for “Spider-Man” we sort of figured this would happen but held out a glimmer of hope that with “21 Jump Street” shooting early-ish next year (filming was pushed back slightly on the film), somehow she would be able to do both. But alas, Emma Stone will not be co-starring with Jonah Hill in “21 Jump Street.”
When asked about the film during a recent chat with MTV, Stone said, “I don’t think I’m going to be part of that, but Jonah is one of my favorite people in the entire world.”
As for “Spider-Man,” Stone reveals that pre-production is nearly at an end and shooting is imminent, “Today I went and did hair tests, because I have blonde hair now since Gwen has blonde hair. My natural hair is blonde, so it’s kind of nice. I looked in the mirror and said, ‘Oh my god, it’s me again, it’s been so long!’ We’re finalizing the visual stuff. And I think we’ll start actually rehearsing, because we start shooting in two weeks. Andrew and I went and learned about science yesterday. Gwen really likes science, so we learned about science. I was home-schooled, so I never went to chemistry class in a traditional setting like Gwen is into. That was really beneficial.”
And as for pleasing comic fans who are protective of their superheroes, he actress completely understands saying, “I have such respect for the world of comic book fans. I’ve been to Comic-Con for ‘Zombieland,’ and zombie fans are a very specific kind of fan base. And my absolute favorite kind of people in the world are people that are passionate about something. And if there protective of something they’re passionate about it, I can completely relate because there are things I’m passionate about and protective of. There’s a part of me that really wants to please people that love Spider-Man or Gwen Stacy and want her to be done justice. I hope they’ll give me license to interpret her my way. But that fan base, I’m one of them, so I completely understand why they would be judgmental of certain things.”
While we’re a little disappointed it won’t be a “Superbad” reunion for “21 Jump Street,” there is plenty of Emma Stone coming up in 2011 as she has “Crazy. Stupid. Love.,” “The Help” and “Friends With Benefits” all set to hit screens.
“21 Jump Street” will hit cinemas on March 16, 2012 and the only other confirmed cast number right now is, uh, Channing Tatum.
