Eva Mendes Gets ‘Anxiety,’ Filming Starts Next Month


Eva Mendes has kicked off the new year by joining the indie project “Anxiety.”

In the film, Mendes will play a struggling single mother of a 13 year old who decides to transform her detested life by embarking on a classic teen rite of passage. The film has an award winning script by Hiram Martinez and is set to be directed by Patricia Riggen (“Under the Same Moon“) and production is moving very quickly. “Anxiety” will go in front of cameras next month in Vancouver is being prepped to bow at the Toronto International Film Festival in September. The film is being produced under under the new Pantelion-Lionsgate deal, in which the two labels are partnering on releasing 8-10 films a year for the English-speaking population of Latin heritage in North America. Diego Luna‘s debut feature film “Abel” was recently acquired and will be distributed by the venture as well. “Abel” will hit on March 4th; no release date set just yet for “Anxiety.”
