Harvey Weinstein Compares Emma Watson To Jean Shrimpton (Yeah, We Had To Look That One Up Too)
So this is what Emma Watson looks like when she’s playing someone other than Hermione.
Watson has spent pretty much her entire career in the “Harry Potter” series but with that now coming to an end, the actress is, in a way, starting all over again and will have to prove herself to those (like this writer) who’ve barely paid attention to the boy wizard movies. Well, she’s certainly surrounding herself with the right talent, as she recently wrapped work on “My Week With Marilyn” alongside Michelle Williams, Kenneth Branagh, Judi Dench, Julia Ormond, Derek Jacobi and Dominic Cooper. The project, directed by TV veteran Simon Curtis (”Cranford”) features Michelle Williams as Monroe, and follows her friendship with young Englishman Colin Clark while in the country shooting “The Prince and the Showgirl,” as well as her tempestuous relationship with director/co-star Laurence Olivier. And we now have our first look at Watson (and her wig) in the picture.
Curtis is currently in post-production on the film and Harvey Weinstein, whose The Weinstein Company produced the picture, is gaga over Watson. “For ten years she has been this schoolgirl in the Harry Potter films and now you see her as a woman for the first time,” he told the Daily Mail‘s Baz Bamigboye. “She has an elegance about her – she looks like Jean Shrimpton! – plus she has a gift for comedy and drama, and we’re just starting to see her range. I feel we’re going to work together a lot in the future.” High praise indeed.
“My Week With Marilyn” will hit cinemas next year.
