Jim Sheridan’s ‘Dream House’ With Rachel Weisz & Daniel Craig Rescheduled For Sept. 30, 2011

Though it wrapped filming earlier this year and was originally scheduled for February 12, 2011 release date, Jim Sheridan‘s latest film “Dream House” ran into a bit of trouble when star Daniel Craig found his calendar filled up quickly with “Cowboys & Aliens” and “The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo,” making scheduling reshoots a tricky proposition. With those scenes now planned to be shot in December, Universal has now rescheduled the film for a September 30, 2011 release.

Starring Rachel Weisz, Naomi Watts and Daniel Craig, “Dream House” follows the story of a successful New York publisher (Craig) who moves his wife (Weisz) and children to a New England town, where they buy the home of their dreams. That dream, however, is shattered when they learn that the previous tenants were murdered, leading the husband to team with a neighbor (Watts) to learn the truth about the crime. Sounds like pretty run-of-the-mill stuff, and we hope Sheridan and his solid cast bring some weight to the proceedings. We would imagine that the new slot now makes the film a likely candidate to unspool at next year’s TIFF. The film was shot (and is being reshot) in Toronto and features the kind of A-list talent that the festival would love to have walk down the read carpet.

In related news, you might’ve heard that Rachel Weisz and longtime partner director Darren Aronofsky are calling it quits. Bummer. The rumor going around is that Daniel Craig is the man in the middle but we don’t buy it; if her most recently shot movie had starred Verne Troyer they would’ve been linked. We’re just mostly bummed that the gestating Aronofsky/Weisz pic “Jackie” will most likely be tabled for a little while. They say they’re still going to be “close friends” but remember the last ex you told that to? How did that work out?
