Katherine Heigl Bails On ‘Adaline’

The words “acrimonious” and “Katherine Heigl” never seem to be too far apart, and once again, the actress appears to have butted heads with executives.

Deadline reports that the actress has exited from the film to spend more time with her recently adopted daughter, though apparently there was “some acrimony involved” which given the actress’ reputation seems to make some sense. At any rate, somebody better get back to Angela Lansbury who was gracious enough to sign on to this thing last week. The role will be immediately re-cast, and though no one has been named yet, just look at the list of actresses for “The Dark Knight Rises,” the “Alien” prequel and “Gravity” and those are probably the candidates.

In case you still care, the ridiculous sounding picture revolved “around a beautiful woman who hasn’t aged in 100 years but hasn’t found love, either. She finally meets that guy who might be worth embracing mortality, and all the wrinkles and sagging that comes with it.” But wait, there’s more. Adaline gains her immortality when just after she dies in a car accident she is immediately and almost simultaneously struck by lightning, keeping her forever in her 20s. Wow.

The picture was set to go in front of cameras in March with Andy Tennant (“Hitch“) directing and everyone involved is still gunning for that date.
