Producers Insist Lohan Was Fired And Didn’t Quit
The long, slow painful deconstruction of Lindsay Lohan‘s career continues this week and plunges even deeper into the slo-mo trainwreck trajectory it has been moving along for what seems like the last two years. We’re frankly surprised the starlet is still alive and as much as we feel bad for any human being obviously struggling so much, it seems like the gossip-star turned sublebrity has been her own worst enemy all along.
We’re pretty sure if she was offered the opportunity to travel back in time to circa “Mean Girls,” but told she could never use drugs or get laid again, she’d probably take it. Or at least we would if we were her. Lohan seemed to get a liferaft in recent months when she was given the starring role in Matthew Wilder‘s gestating biopic of famous porn star Linda Lovelace best known for starring in the enormously successful 1972 hardcore porn film “Deep Throat.” Lovelace would later turn her back on the porn industry and become a vocal crusader in the anti-pornography movement.
Wilder’s had several issues with Lohan of late, the least of which were probably not the fact that she was spending most of her time in and out of jail. This weekend TMZ reported that Lohan had quit the project, but Wilder told the LA Times the opposite and that he had personally shit-canned her for what should be obvious reasons. While Wilder didn’t say much because he wanted to avoid ‘”mudslinging” he did say that he and the producers had decided to look elsewhere for a lead actress and likely one more reliable.
And search elsewhere they have. The production has already replaced Lohan with “Watchmen,” “Couples Retreat,” and “Entourage” star Malin Akerman. “My understanding is that Lindsay was dropped as she’s impossible to insure and the producers loved Malin,” insiders told Deadline.
Akerman’s honestly not the greatest actress in the world outside comedy, so it will be interesting to see if she can handle what we assume will be a dramatic role. She’s got several projects in the works however including “Wanderlust” starring Paul Rudd, Jen Aniston and produced by Judd Apatow, “Happythankyoumoreplease” with Josh Radnor and “The Bang Bang Club” starring Taylor Kitsch and Ryan Philippe that kinda came and went at TIFF earlier this year.
“Inferno” is based off of “Ordeal: An Autobiography by Linda Lovelace” with Mike McGrady. One hopes Lohan gets her shit together one day, but don’t count on it.
