New Look At Hector Hammond In ‘Green Lantern’

Update: Parallax image removed at the request of Warner Bros.

The trailer for “Green Lantern” dropped last week and the geek community was not pleased. The film looked pedestrian at best the pure CGI costume makes Ryan Reynolds look like a glowing neon green fruit roll-up who can also fly. But if Green Lantern isn’t quite convincing yet, it looks like the filmmakers have got Hector Hammond down cold.

A new look at Peter Sarsgaard as Green Lantern nemesis Hector Hammond has cropped up online and he definitely looks the part. For those of you not familiar with the comic, Hammond is an enemy of the Green Lantern and as you might guess, is physically distinguished by his oversize brain caused by fragments of a strange meteor he finds in the woods. Blessed with telepathy, mind control and telekenesis, Hammond becomes a rich celebrity thanks to inventions spurred from the increased intellect caused by the meteor (he also imprisons other scientists with the meteor and then steals and sells their ideas). He is just one enemy Green Lantern will face as he will also square off against Parallax, of which you can see a questionable first look from The Daily Blam after the jump (it seems more like a scale model than something that appears in the movie).

“Green Lantern” is directed by Martin Campbell and puts on a power ring on June 17, 2011. [via Bleeding Cool]
