It looks like the voices of “Veronica Mars” fans have been heard. Sort of.
After years of hoping and praying for a big screen incarnation of the cult television show which was taken off the air after three seasons, “Veronica Mars” fans now have something to hope for as Warner Bros. has at least acknowledged their existence. The studio has set up an email address, revealed on Twitter (via Cinema Blend), where fans can send their requests and petitions for a film. But, sorry, we still don’t think it’s going to happen.
How do we know? Considering the tweet was sent last Friday night (though to be fair, that was probably the worst time WB could have chosen to broadcast that info) and has gained pretty much no traction since, it doesn’t bode well for the potential of a feature film. If Warner Bros. really wanted to make a film they would put it into development, but it seems like they’re waiting for a deluge of emails that we don’t think they’re gonna get before deciding to do something. Hell, even producer Joel Silver said earlier this summer that the chances of a film were pretty much dead because the show sold poorly on DVD (maybe fans will want to start buying sets for their friends, family, enemies and random strangers?). And the show’s star, Kristen Bell, also revealed a couple of months ago that Warner Bros. didn’t have the market research to back up the viability for a film.
So, a brief window of hope for “Veronica Mars” fans but don’t expect anything to happen unless you guys can fill up that inbox.
