Ok, while it wasn’t a big office sensation, “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid” was still a smashing success by anyone’s standard. Made for a paltry $15 million, the picture went on to earn $64 million. Not too shabby. In fact, Fox 2000 was so impressed that last summer they put a sequel on the fast track and lo and behold, just under a year after the first one hit theaters, “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” is getting ready to hit theaters.
We have to admit, we barely paid attention when the first film came out and so the sequel is barely on our radar and after watching this trailer, we know why. It stars with a really long, unfunny poop joke, which then gives away to a burp joke. Kids like that stuff it seems. More hijinks ensue and the trailer ends with you wondering what on earth Steve Zahn is doing in this thing.
“Flushed Away” and “Astro Boy” helmer David Bowers stood behind the camera while the magic happened, and Gabe Sachs and Jeff Judah who wrote the first film, reprised those duties here. “Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules” opens on March 25, 2011.
