‘127 Hours’ Soundtrack Features Sigur Ros, Dido, Bill Withers & More

While James Franco‘s performance in Danny Boyle‘s “127 Hours” is a remarkable feat, and a career defining turn for the actor, the soundtrack to the film, is another integral ingredient in the picture’s powerful emotional impact. Powered by an original score by A.R. Rahman and completed with smart, select uses of songs by Sigur Ros and Bill Withers, the soundtrack is definitely worth picking up.

The forthcoming 14-track affair will feature eight new compositions by Rahman including “If I Rise,” a collaboration with Dido. Electro indie act Free Blood will get their biggest exposure to date with “Never Hear Surf Music Again” kicking things off. Things get sweet and soulful with Bill Withers and Esther Phillips contributing “Lovely Day” and “If You Love Me (Really Love Me)” respectively. Plastic Bertrand‘s staple “Ca Plane Pour Moi” keeps things lively while Sigur Ros‘ “Festival” will take your heart and pour it all over the floor. And yes, we’ll answer the question that is sure to come up in the next few weeks: that is the song playing during the film’s moving climax.

“127 Hours” begins in a limited rollout on November 5th and the soundtrack will hit digital retails a few days before on November 2nd, will physical copies will and in stores on November 22nd. Full tracklisting after the jump:
