Edward Cullen, They Gonna Beat On Your White Ass Like It Was A Rented Mule
Nearly two years on from the end of our beloved “The Wire,” actors from the show keep cropping up in odd places. Michael Williams (Omar) in “The Incredible Hulk.” Seth Gilliam (Carver) in “Did You Hear About The Morgans?” Sonja Sohn (Kima) in “Step Up 2 The Streets.” But so far, none have sunk so far as to make an appearance in the “Twilight” franchise. A man got to have a code, after all.
Until today, that is: a press release from Summit has revealed that Wendell Pierce, who played Bunk Moreland on the show (possibly our favorite character, if we had to pick one) will use some of his time in between seasons of creator David Simon‘s follow up, the excellent “Treme,” in which he also plays one of the leads, for an easy paycheck in “Twilight: Breaking Dawn.” It’s not clear what role Pierce will play, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed he’ll be playing Edward and Bella’s murderous fetus, via motion capture.
Pierce is just one of eight new additions to the cast, none of whom we’ve heard of before. Also on board are Olga Fonda (“Real Steel“), Janelle Froehlich (“Hacienda Heights“), Masami Kosaka (“The Runaways“), Amadou Ly (“The Tested“), Ty Olsson (“2012“) and a pair of international TV actors, Sebastio Lemos from Brazil, and Spain’s Carolina Virguez.
The new additions join a mammoth cast for the two-part finale to the series, which includes both returning names Kristen Stewart, Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner, Dakota Fanning, Michael Sheen, Ashley Greene, Anna Kendrick, Jackson Rathbone, Nikki Reed, Kellan Lutz and Billy Burke, and new additions Maggie Grace, MyAnna Buring, Mia Maestro, Christian Camargo, Tracey Heggins, Judi Shekoni, Omar Metwally, Andrea Gabriel, Ram Malek, Angela Sarafyan, Marlane Barnes, Lisa Howard, Patrick Brennan, Noel Fisher, Guri Weinberg, Lee Pace, Toni Trucks, Bill Tangradi, Erik Odom, Valorie Curry and Joe Anderson. Note it down, there will be a test.
Bill Condon (“Gods and Monsters“) is directing, and Part 1 hits theaters November 18th 2011, while Part 2 hits a year later, November 18th 2012. Which means it’s only slightly more than two years until we can stop writing about this rubbish.
