It’s the weekend, content dump time! We’ve been talking about our old “Short Cuts” franchise title which was essentially short takes on news. Maybe we’ll bring it back, maybe we won’t. But we’re gonna try it here. Let us know what you think and maybe we’ll listen. 😉 So yeah, a lot of stuff happened this week and there’s only so much time in a day. Here’s some interesting, “not fit to print” items that broke that we’ll cover very briefly.
A bunch of new images of TWC‘s “Scream 4” broke this week. The first one features Emma Roberts who we really like and think is up and coming so we hope she knows what she’s doing taking this part. The second image features Allison Brie, Marley Shelton, Adam Brody, Neve Campbell, Courtney Cox, David Arquette and Anthony Anderson. [Rope of Silicon]
Remember the whole “Disturbia” rips off Hitchcock‘s “Rear Window” brouhaha and the ensuing lawsuit that was dismissed earlier this year? A new suit has been filed and Universal is being sued once more. [THR]
Ok, so “Step Up 3D” wasn’t a huge domestic hit? Try, try, again, right? Nope, it made $160 million worldwide and was made for $30 million. That’s basically how you pronounce “profit” in the U.S. So a “Step Up 4Ever” film has been announced by Summit. It’s unclear whether Touchstone, who handled the previous films domestically, will have anything to do with it stateside. [CS]
Steven Soderbergh‘s Spalding Gray doc, “And Everything is Going Fine,” has been slated For December 10 release date. Yes, we should have written a full story about this one. We also need to eat sometime today. [BOM]
Here’s a Twitter first look at the “Footloose” remake directed by Craig Brewer. Looks like an image of the newcomers Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough. It arrives April 1, 2011. [Moviefone]
“Desperate Housewives” star Nicole Scherzinger has joined, “Men In Black 3D.” Woo [E!Online]
The Independent Documentary Awards were announced this week and among the nominees were the Banksy doc, “Exit Through The Gift Shop,” and “The Oath.” [Variety]
Warner Bros. has bought a pitch for a live action/animated Looney Tunes movie set in ACME warehouse (a fictional corporation that exists in the Looney Tunes universe, often seen as the makers of products bought by Wile E. Coyote). Don’t get too excited, though, it will not not feature any Looney Tunes characters. [THR]
IFC has acquired Hong Kong flick “Dream Home.” [Deadline]
If you like director Tony Scott, you’ll want to check out these new images and clips from his upcoming film, “Unstoppable.” [Collider]
Danish filmmaker Ole Bornedal has been pegged to direct the Sam Raimi-produced horror thriller, “Dibbuk Box” for Lionsgate. [THR]
Jemima Kirke and Allison Williams have joined Lena Dunham‘s HBO show. She’s the 24-year-old break-out discovery of this year’s SXSW, winning the best narrative feature for her film, “Tiny Furniture.” [Deadline]
A slew ton of new “I Love You Phillip Morris” images are out there. [IGN]
Lionsgate has picked picked up the film “LOL” which stars Miley Cyrus, Demi Moore and “Twilight” breakout star Ashley Greene (aka when Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart got too big, MTV transformed the B-list cast into stars because they needed to continue cranking out “Twilight” content). [THR]
Samuel Goldwyn picked up a documentary about creating a Russian version of “Everybody Loves Raymond,” ew. [Variety]
