It’s season finale time for networks, but Netflix, naturally, still has plenty of brand new TV and shows coming in May.
Jeff Daniels makes his TV return in the David E. Kelley series “A Man in Full.” That six-episode series is based on the bestselling book of the same name by Tom Wolfe. Per a press release: “When Atlanta real estate mogul Charlie Croker faces sudden bankruptcy, political and business interests collide as Charlie defends his empire from those attempting to capitalize on his fall from grace.” The series will also star Tom Pelphrey, Diane Lane, Lucy Liu, William Jackson Harper, Aml Ameen, Sarah Jones, Jon Michael Hill and Chanté Adams.
Additionally, comedy fans can get excited for a new special series from John Mulaney. The comedian is hosting a multi-night event, “John Mulaney Presents: Everybody’s in LA,” that looks to be part interview show and part man-on-the-street hijinks. (Real Mulaney freaks can also check out his installment of David Letterman’s “My Next Guest,” which will premiere April 30 on the platform.)
Top Pick for May 2024: “Bridgerton” Season 3 — Part 1
Romance lovers, our long national nightmare is over: “Bridgerton” returns with its third season on Netflix, premiering May 16. This time around, Penelope (Nicola Coughlan) will try her hand at love, though expect many complications. Season 2 ended with her best friend Eloise (Claudia Jessie) realizing that Penelope is the mysterious gossip columnist Lady Whistledown and that Lady Whistledown has been trying to ruin her life. Talk about awkward. Meanwhile, everyone else — including a returning(!) Jonathan Bailey, who plays Anthony — are dealing with their own love life problems. Will everyone live happily ever after? Fans will actually have to wait until “Part 2” premieres in June to know for sure, but…come on. Come for the bodice ripping, stay for whatever spectacular wig Queen Charlotte tries next.
