This summer, A24 wants theatergoers to relive their own teenage dreams – or nightmares, depending on the films selected in their upcoming series.
A24 and AMC Theaters announced the film series “A24 Presents: A Teenage Dream Series,” which includes four beloved A24 films that deal with tweens, teens, and everything in between. The series begins August 7 with Bo Burnham’s directorial debut “Eighth Grade.” A new film will screen each Wednesday through August 28.
The angst and back-to-school dread that comes with the August Summer Scaries is embodied by the slew of selected films that each embody different genres, including (of course) horror.
Jonah Hill’s first feature “Mid90s,” which he wrote and directed, screens August 14, followed by Sofia Coppola’s “The Bling Ring” based on the true story of L.A. teens looting celebrities’ homes on August 21. The recent viral horror film “Talk to Me” rounds out the series August 28. The screening day coincides with the anniversary of A24 announcing a “Talk to Me” sequel back in August 2023.
Event pricing is set at $8 per film at AMC. Tickets are on sale starting at 11 a.m. ET / 8 a.m. PT here. Plus, anyone who purchases a ticket will also get some teen nostalgic merchandise, and AAA24 members will be able to see one film in the series for free. The AAA24 membership gives fans more access to all that is happening around A24’s creators and content with special zines, birthday gifts, access to exclusive content on social, merchandise, and products through the app.
Past A24 and AMC film series have included the “Lover’s Series” which lacked any rom-coms and leaned into the indie studio’s famed twisted take on romance with features like “Pearl,” “A Ghost Story,” “The Lobster,” and “The Lighthouse.”
The “October Thrills & Chills Film Series” in 2023 featured all returning A24 horror hits like “The Witch,” “X,” “Under the Skin,” and the Director’s Cut of “Midsommar” leading up to Halloween.
A24 has also recently re-released curated features through an IMAX Experience this summer. Best Picture winner “Everything Everywhere All At Once” will screen on Wednesday, August 28 as the final installment of the A24 x IMAX Present screening series, which features IMAX digital remasters of modern classics. Screenings will be held across more than 300 IMAX locations nationwide and select locations internationally. Tickets are available here.
