Oops! They did it again. Universal has won in auction the rights to a major film biopic on the life of Britney Spears, the studio announced Thursday.

“Wicked” director Jon M. Chu is directing the film and developing it for the studio, and “La La Land” producer Marc Platt is attached to produce the film. The movie, untitled at this point, will be based on Spears’ memoir “The Woman in Me,” which has sold 2.5 million copies worldwide.

No writer or cast has been set at this point.

“The Woman in Me” reveals for the first time Spears’ incredible journey—and the strength at the core of one of the greatest performers in pop music history. Written with remarkable candor and humor, Spears’s groundbreaking book illuminates the enduring power of music and love—and the importance of a woman telling her own story, on her own terms.

Spears is represented by Hudson Management and CAA. Chu is represented by Artists First, UTA, Allison Binder, Esq of GGSSC and ID.
