Oscar winner Kenneth Branagh‘s latest film is getting even more star power.
IndieWire can confirm that Patricia Arquette and Michael Sheen are among the new cast members for Branagh’s upcoming psychological thriller “The Last Disturbance Of Madeline Hynde.” Jodie Comer was previously announced as the lead star.
“The Last Disturbance Of Madeline Hynde” is billed as a “contemporary psychological thriller” but the official logline is being kept under wraps. Branagh writes and directs the feature which is being independently financed through his “Belfast” producers’ banners.
In addition to Arquette, Sheen, and Comer, the cast also includes Tom Bateman, Vicky McClure, Michael Balogun, Kristina Tonteri-Young, Karla Crome, Aiysha Hart, and Gemma Whelan.
Filming has begun in the U.K. Tamar Thomas, Laura Berwick, and Becca Kovacik, along with Matthew Jenkins, and Maximum Effort’s Ashley Fox and Johnny Pariseau, are producing.
Comer recently starred in “The Bikeriders” and wrapped production on “28 Years Later.” Arquette will next appear in “Severance” Season 2, which she previously warned audiences about, saying fans should be “very scared” of the story arc.
“Be scared, very scared,” Arquette told Entertainment Tonight. “No, I think these guys have been working really hard, and come up with a lot of really creative things. They have a whole world in their minds. They just let us in, piece by piece, into what’s going on, but I think it will be fun and beautiful.”
Branagh most recently helmed Agatha Christie adaptation thriller “A Haunting in Venice,” which was the final installment in his Agatha Christie trilogy for Disney. The other titles he wrote, directed, and starred in were “Murder on the Orient Express” and “Death on the Nile.”
In 2021, Branagh won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for “Belfast,” which also received an additional six nominations including Best Picture and Best Director.
In addition to writing and directing “The Last Disturbance Of Madeline Hynde,” Branagh has wrapped production as an actor in “Mayday” opposite Ryan Reynolds for Apple Original Films and Skydance. He also will return to the stage to play King Lear, opening later this year at the Shed in New York in October. Branagh is co-directing the play with Rob Ashford and Lucy Skilbeck.
