Wassup and welcome to IndieWire’s 2000’s Week, our annual summer-time celebration of whichever decade we’re thinking on most fondly this particular season. As we’ve previously done with both the ’80s (rad) and the ’90s (the shiznit), we’re spending this stretch of the dog days of summer looking back on some recent history. Some very recent history, in this case.

Like those previous iterations, this celebration of the best (or, at least, the stuff we’re still obsessing over) of the early aughts’ cinematic output will kick off with our ranked mega-list of the decade’s 100 greatest films, which we will then follow with interviews with the people who made them, essays about the impact these contemporary classics had on the world at large, close listens of the scores and needle-drops that still reverberate in our ears, and so very much more.

As we’re fond of saying around these parts, if you’re worried about the depth of cinematic treasures to be found during a period of time (in this case and for our own record-keeping, 2000 – 2009), we here at IndieWire are all too happy to direct your attention to the movies, stars, and more that endure, even if they were concocted in the hothouse environment of Y2K and all that followed (potential computer crashes all the way up to, oh, what’s that, an upcoming film literally entitled “Y2K” from our friend Kyle Mooney!).

Below, you’ll find a comprehensive schedule of the 2000’s Week goodness to come, which will update with links to our stories as they go live over the course of the week. Simply put: that’s hot!
