Kevin Bacon is on a mission. No, he’s not trying to stop dancing from being outlawed, but instead, is sharing his love for the theatrical experience and pushing others to share in it. In a recently released video posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, Bacon can be seen walking down the street after having just seen JT Mollner’s unconventional thriller “Strange Darling.”

“Going to the movie is a very special experience,” Bacon wrote. “This is the experience I grew up with and what made me want to be in the movies. Do yourself a favor and go the theater this weekend. Lots of cool options out there.”

As he continues down the street, Bacon discussed those options, starting with “Strange Darling.” Of the film, he said, “Fantastic. Wow. What a flick. I mean, acting, directing, all around. So Cool.”

Bacon went on to share how this was the third movie he saw this week. He’d also taken in a viewing of Zoë Kravitz’s “Blink Twice” and was blown away by her abilities.

“Wow. Zoë, you’re a director,” Bacon said. “That was banging. And the acting from the men, from the women, everybody, so good.”

Before “Blink Twice,” Bacon also watched the latest installment in the “Alien” franchise, Fede Alvarez’s “Alien: Romulus,” which he described as “scary as hell.”

Why take to social media in praise of these recently released films? Well, Bacon knows the struggle theaters are up against and with Labor Day weekend being a notoriously difficult time for the box office, he’s hoping he can convince some people to head to theaters as well as the backyard barbecue.

“Listen, I’m not a critic, okay?” said Bacon. “I’m not saying this because my opinion is of any value when it comes to movies and what you’re going to like, but what I’m saying is that going out to the movies is a very special experience.”

The real benefit of the experience, Bacon believes, is getting to share it with others. Recounting a story from his most recent watch of “Strange Darling,” he said, “A guy stopped me in the bathroom and said, ‘Wow man, what did you think of that movie?’ I said, ‘That was crazy.’ That was an experience that we shared.”

Bacon may have just come up with a new tagline for theaters as well. Closing his video, he said, “Every once in a while, go to the movies. It’s cool as hell.”
