Legendary Hollywood icons Annette Bening, Richard Linklater, and Jerry Bruckheimer will be celebrated at the 2024 SCAD Savannah Film Festival.
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) has announced its first list of honorees for the 2024 festival, which will take place from October 26 to November 2. This year, “Nyad” star Bening’s legacy will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award. The ceremony will take place after a screening of Bening’s 1990 film ”The Grifters.”
Similarly, “Hit Man” writer/director Linklater will receive the Lifetime Achievement in Screenwriting Award, with the Netflix film screening at the festival.
Mega-producer Bruckheimer will reflect on his career during an In Conversation event before receiving the Legend of Entertainment Award at the festival.
The SCAD Savannah Film Festival is the largest university-run film festival in the nation. The festival will begin with opening night gala film “Blitz” on Saturday, October 26. Director Steve McQueen will be in attendance to receive the Outstanding Achievement in Directing Award.
In addition to the aforementioned honors, the 2024 festival will toast “A Different Man” star Sebastian Stan, who will receive the Maverick Award for his turn in the dark comedy. Lupita Nyong’o will receive the Virtuoso Award at a screening of the animated film “The Wild Robot,” while “Anora” breakout star Mikey Madison will aptly be honored with the Breakthrough Award.
Colman Domingo will receive the Spotlight Award at a screening of ”Sing Sing,” and Karla Sofía Gascón will receive the Distinguished Performance Award at a screening of ”Emilia Pérez.”
“Unstoppable” actor Jharrel Jerome will win the Lumiere Award, along with “Magpie” and ”Young Woman and the Sea” actress Daisy Ridley. Isabela Merced will receive the Rising Star Award at a screening of ”Alien: Romulus.”
As previously announced, Colleen Atwood will receive the Creative Impact Award for Costume Design for ”Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.” Additional honorees and the festival’s lineup will be announced soon.
Honorees attending the festival are expected to participate in an awards presentation, moderated conversations, and master classes with SCAD acting and film and television students.
