Larry David To Play A Delightfully Named Nun Mother Mengele In ‘Three Stooges’

We have to admit, we haven’t exactly been all too excited about the casting of “The Three Stooges.” Going from Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro to Will Sasso, Sean Hayes and Chris Diamantopoulos is a bit less than exciting but the supporting cast is renewing our interest. Last week, the very funny Jane Lynch came on onboard as Mother Superior and it looks like she’s going to have one helluva colleague. Though perhaps not exactly in the shape we were expecting.

Deadline reveals that “Curb Your Enthusiasm” star and “Seinfeld” co-creator Larry David has joined The Farrelly Brothers film as Mother Mengele. We shouldn’t have to tell you who that name references, but David was long ago listed as a contender for Larry in the film but it seems the Farrellys have a found a much more interesting way to use his talents. Moreover, it seems to be a bit of a new direction for David considering his work so far has largely been playing versions of himself. Unless he has some kind of weird fetish we’re not aware of.

Anyway, David rounds out a cast that also includes Sofia Vergara. Filming starts this month on the project that will bring the comedy trio onto the big screen in the three interconnected short films.
